Here are some of the common myths about eye care and glasses:
______________________________
Optical Myth #1: Walmart, Sam's Club, Lenscrafters, Eyeglass World,
America's Best, and Dr. Tavel have better prices on glasses.
Fact: Every industry survey on eyeglass prices shows independent optometrists have about the same prices on frames, lenses, and lens options as the optical chain stores when you compare similar products.
@ Moody Eyes: We have a wide range of prices to fit every budget, for example:
Frame-Lens Packages starting at $98 plus 50% Off your 2nd pair o

Optical Myth #2: All frames are the same.
Fact #1: Most people do not consider a Mercedes or Lexus to be the same quality as a Kia. The same is true of eyeglass frames. Better quality frames fit better, have better components (especially hinges and eye wire), hold their adjustments better, and last longer.
@ Moody Eyes: We have frames in our value collection starting at $88 all the way to our luxury designer frames from Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Dior, Gucci, TAG Heuer, and Rayban Sunglasses.
Fact #2: Many optical chains sell discontinued frames or over-runs. If you break these it is often difficult to find a replacement.
@ Moody Eyes: We sell only new designs with a one year warranty.

Optical Myth #3: It takes 2 weeks for your optometrist to deliver your glasses.
@ Moody Eyes: Our normal delivery time is 2-5 days! Sure, special orders might take a little longer, but chain stores take longer on these, too.
In emergencies we can deliver your new glasses the same or next day!

Optical Myth #4: All eye exams are about the same.
Fact #1: The "independent" optometrist at most chains is using equipment, facilities, and, often, staff supplied by the corporation. Their operations, including what tests they run and how much time they spend with you, are influenced by host policies.
@ Moody Eyes: We are locally owned by Dr. Penn Moody. Dr. Moody and Dr. Adams are all free to make recommendations and decisions based on your clinical evaluation and individual situation.
Fact #2: The equipment and exam format at many optical chains emphasizes the lens prescription.
@ Moody Eyes: We have the equipment to thoroughly examine the health of your eyes and visual system as well as your lens prescription. We treat many ocular conditions including red eye, glaucoma, contact lens complications, pink eye, and dry eye syndrome.

Optical Myth #5: Cheap sunglasses are just as good as quality sunglasses.
Fact: There is a huge difference in the clarity of vision, the comfort of the eyes, and the protection of your eye health. Lenses in inexpensive sunglasses often have significant distortion which leads to more eye fatigue. The ultra-violet (UV) protection many times is less than adequate. Exposure to UV may lead to cataracts, macular degeneration, and inflammatory diseases in the eyes. Quality sunglasses avoid these problems by using optical grade lenses and advanced lens coatings and treatments.
